The Flag
Freedom Park Flag
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE NOTICED OUR FLAG?
HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU NOTICED THE FLAG AT HALF MAST?
HOW DID IT GET TO HALF MAST?
OH! A NEW FLAG! Or did you notice?
Well……we are going to tell you a little bit about our Freedom Park Flag.
- It has been there since 2000 ( Best Guess)
- It was erected by a group of HOA volunteers that also built the park.
- The Flag has been the centerpiece of Freedom Park since the beginning.
- It was much more noticeable when the old entrance was used.
So, who maintains the flag?
Hello Robert Lauderville (Bob)! Bob has been taking care of our flag since 2017.
Bob was an Assistant Controller at Tiller Corporation in the Twin Cities. He and Barb moved to Coyote Lakes full time in 2014 (snowbirds 8 years prior to that). Bob served on the Board from 2015-2017. He also served on the Landscaping Committee for 4 years. They are full time residents, with occasional trips to Minnesota & Iowa.
When the previous Flag Custodian no longer wanted the responsibility of the Flag, Bob took over because they were living in Lakeview Court (next to Freedom Park) and has been doing since – and has been doing a very nice job.
He was asked “How do you know when to lower the Flag?” He signed up for several App’s that tells him when to lower and raise the flag. When the Flag gets dirty or tattered, Bob orders a new one and changes it.
So…….Now you know why our Flag is so nice and is flying correctly!
THANK YOU BOB LAUDERVILLE!
